Rosie Gaines is the former vocalist for The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. She struts with virtuosity through the spectrum of contemporary black music, from reggae to R&B on Closer Than Close. Gaines makes funk sound spiritual and adds delicious sensuality to the breeziest of pop tunes. B+
