Pamela Anderson too sexy for London Underground -- A less provocative ad of the ''Baywatch'' babe is selected to sell Hennes’ swimsuits

British propriety is alive and well and working against Pamela Anderson. Although Baywatch is enormously popular in London, an ad featuring the buxom babe was recently rejected by the London Underground system, known to locals as the Tube. The poster's one of several that feature Anderson modeling swimsuits for the Sweden-based department store Hennes. ''We assess all Tube advertising,'' said Robert Thurner of TDI, London Underground's media contractor, ''and thought [the ad] might cause offense to the traveling public. We accepted the least provocative ones.'' Brits aren't the only ones with an Anderson beef: Giant posters of another shot were torn down by enraged feminists in Norway in April. ''This flap is inconsequential,'' asserts an Anderson spokesman. ''She's the target of so many things — good or bad.'' Can there be anything bad about being deemed too sexy? Says the spokesman: ''Well, let's just say I'm sure it makes her husband very happy.''
