The plot of Boys on the Side is stuffed as full as an oven roaster, the genuinely affecting moments are few and far between, and the bleeding-heart story is just one more tearjerker. Even so, on video, this girls-on-the-road movie deserves a chance with those who spurned it the first time around: Its stars' straight-ahead portrayal of the Odd Trio could give feminism a good name. Plus, at home, even men can rock out to the gutsy female vocals on the soundtrack. B+
