A thriller featuring a heroine who acts tough as nails but is actually just a deeply sensitive gal struggling to get by in the world alone is hardly uncharted territory. But in her debut novel in which, surprise, surprise, a serial killer is on the lam and must be stopped Sarah Lovett makes a fairly strong case for using this formula. While the story holds few unexpected twists and, if read too carefully, exposes occasionally questionable plotting, Dangerous Attachments introduces a likable character in forensic psychiatrist Dr. Sylvia Strange, and a twisted-enough bad guy to ensure both a fun and fast beach read.
