In 1984, Cyndi Lauper hit it big by hiccuping about female bonding and masturbation and cracking her gum over keyboard boings. But she soon retreated into indistinct flute-and-synth schlock. There are five spirited songs her on Twelve Deadly Cyns...and then some from She's So Unusual, but the rest sounds like a girl who's neither unusual nor having fun. B+
