Acting, Tracy Scoggins knows. But interacting, well. In her variegated career, Scoggins has played everything from a growling alien on Deep Space Nine to a sex-kitten gossipeuse on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. But never has she done high-tech, until now. Nonetheless, the 36-year-old actress quickly got wired to star in Snow Job, an adventure game for the 3DO system, due in November. Has Scoggins suddenly found techno-religion? Or is she just another pretty interface?

Have you followed the digital revolution?
You can't miss it in the news, and I'm a news junkie. My curiosity is piqued. But I'm just a little intimidated about actually...touching it.

So how did you get involved with Snow Job?
I'm fascinated by technology, sort of in the same way the cavemen must have been when they saw fire for the first time.

What was the most technical thing you'd done up to now?
I once changed my fax paper.

Was acting in a CD-ROM different from doing films or TV?
This was very imaginative. You do a certain sequence that leads up to a change, and then you film different options. It keeps you very alert. You have to bear in mind the different choices you're going to be doing later on.

Have you actually seen a CD-ROM?
No. Once I went to my business manager's office and they said he was in a meeting. I peek in and he's in there playing Doom. I can see how popular it could be because I was just mesmerized by it.

So will you do more high-tech work?
I'd love to. I recently watched Tom Brokaw's special on Bill Gates. What did you think about it?

I haven't watched it yet. It's on tape.
Oh right, because you can program your VCR. Mr. Show-Off.
