It's impossible to resist the charms of this musical based on Swan Lake, even if the animation seems a little stiff at times (though far superior to the programming kids sop up on Saturday mornings). Whatever The Swan Princess may lack in technique it makes up for with clever dialogue and lyrics. Princess Odette is something of a feminist, spurning her betrothed, Derek, when he admits he loves her only for her beauty. But when she is carried off by a pretender to the throne, who turns her into a swan, guess who risks his life to save her? Try this one on your next video date.
