Video Review

Going Overboard

Lots of people behave like jerks every day, but none of them hit No. 1 at the box office. Yet Adam Sandler became a bona fide movie star with the story of an imbecilic rich kid who's forced to return to grade school before he can inherit his father's company. Now the crimes of Billy Madison include the video release of the shelf-sitting Babes Ahoy, tastefully retitled Going Overboard, in which Sandler plays a stand-up comic looking for a break on a cruise ship. At least the movie has archival value: an early appearance by Chicago Hope's Peter Berg, along with Billy Zane embarrassing himself as a favor to his wife, Liza Collins Zane, who costars in the film.
