DISNEY'S ANIMATED STORYBOOK: THE LION KING (Disney Interactive, CD-ROM for Mac, $39) Hakuna monotonous. That's what this stripped-down retelling of last year's smash animated musical is likely to elicit from its 3-to-9-year-old audience. Beyond the bare-bones story, the disc (now making its Mac debut after becoming a huge PC success) offers only three chintzy little games (connect the dots, click on some moving bugs, make Simba pounce), the capacity to select and reread favorite pages, and an admittedly useful vocabulary-building function. All of this can be exhausted in well under an hour. Of course, kids do have a tremendous capacity to hear the same story over and over, but shouldn't they be given other options? B-
