Pink Floyd: Pulse (1995)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Rated: Unrated; Genre: Documentary; With: Pink Floyd

For Pink Floyd: Pulse, a 2 1/2-hour documentary of last year's Division Bell tour, veteran director David Mallet does what he can with a spectacularly gaudy light show that would be any videographer's worst nightmare. The result: Overpowering bursts of color often reduce band members to an eye-gouging green or purple blur. The tape's spectacularly detailed audio mix, however, faithfully reproduces the best-sounding outdoor concert I've ever attended. Those fond of the group's often bombastic yet undeniably melodic space rock will find this the next best thing to being in the bleachers. For all others, it'll be an endurance test more comic than cosmic. B
