With his sweet, singsong tenor offsetting abrasive dancehall reggae backbeats, Ini Kamoze manages to straddle two worlds on Lyrical Gangsta. Carried along by jagged cadences, each song packs an album's worth of hooks and simple melodies. Maybe that's why his fans can be found from Milan's showrooms to Kingston's shanties. And why several record companies fought to sign him. B+
