A 1949 Hank Williams radio show was the inspiration for the Hoboken, N.J. quartet Health & Happiness Show's moniker, and their down-home mid-tempo ballads hint at his musical influence along with that of The Band and some of the Stones' woodsier moments. On their second album Instant Living, they've adopted a more straight-ahead electric vibe (owing partly to the contributions of ex-Television guitar maestro Richard Lloyd), but their earnest songmanship remains intact.
