Martial-arts butt kicker Jeff Speakman brings back Charles Bronson-style vigilantism with The Expert, a grisly revenge flick about a guy who so loves the death penalty that he breaks into a prison to do the job himself. James Brolin steals the show, however, as a merciless warden who turns death vigils into parties. Throw in Speakman's impossibly contrived romance with a crusading TV reporter, and you've got something that should satisfy any raw-meat eater. B-
