Music Single Review: ''Fantasy'' (1996)

EW's GRADE

Details Lead Performance: Mariah Carey

Yet another goo-goo-eyes confection from the queen of Sony, this time with a few blatant attempts at street credibility (dance-club beat, Tom Tom Club sample). The CD single features five slightly different mixes, and the album and ''radio edit'' versions are so hyper that they nearly crush what is already a slight song. But producer Sean ''Puffy'' Combs' three remixes give ''Fantasy'' the clipped-pace street beat it needs, complete with a cameo by rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard in which he manages to rhyme Mariah and pacifier.
