It's a given that Universal Studios' theme park would have a Jurassic Park attraction. Ditto the aqua adventure Waterworld. But how about a drag-queen spectacular? Universal's just-opened To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar, starring Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo, may be about cross-dressers cruising cross-country, yet, according to screenwriter Douglas Carter Beane, the studio's contract with him claims the right to develop a To Wong Foo park ride.

Does this mean Universal has blueprints for a House of Style Horrors? Bumper cars with padded headlights? A spokesperson for Universal's Florida theme park almost chokes. ''I can't imagine what that would be like. Would it be for families?'' Beane asks why not. ''I see families in a little car. May be a feather boa instead of a seat belt. They enter and see a beautiful hologram. Perhaps there's an area where you get a total makeover.''

Cheryl Difatta, at Universal's Hollywood park, confirms there will be no West Coast ride, either. ''We have to look at what makes sense,'' she explains. ''Back to the Future lends itself. To Wong Foo? It seems doubtful.''

Difatta adds that fans should probably not expect a Billy Madison roller coaster or a Village of the Damned carousel from hell. But there is one recent Universal hit that's getting a shot. ''We have an animal show and the latest addition is Babe the pig,'' she says. Maybe the To Wong Foo dragsters should try overalls.
