This could make the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast go postal: Paramount Television has been asked to turn Clueless, the $54 million-grossing summer sleeper, into a TV series. ''All the networks have expressed interest,'' says a Paramount spokesman. The studio is working with director Amy Heckerling to develop the show.
This would not be Heckerling's first TV teen foray: Her other adolescent classic, 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High, was later turned into a short-lived (and abysmally rated) series for CBS. But Heckerling is still game. ''I'm definitely interested in doing a good high school show, but a couple of things still need to be worked out,'' she says. ''It's a Hollywood decision, so who knows when it will happen.'' Until a network is chosen, casting choices are premature, but don't expect Alicia Silverstone to do her Cher again. ''She would certainly not be interested [in reprising her role as the lead character],'' says her spokeswoman. ''She has a two-picture deal at Columbia!'' As if, indeed.
