The hugely hyped CBS soap Central Park West debuted disastrously in 72nd, losing to Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210 (25th, tied with Melrose Place) and ABC's sitcoms Grace Under Fire (10th) and The Naked Truth (17th). A hastily scheduled Friday ''encore'' of CPW's premiere landed in 90th. CBS also had big hopes for Andrew Clay's Bless This House, but after premiering in 32nd on Monday, it slid to 65th in its regular Wednesday slot. On Sunday, CBS' Cybill (43rd) finished fourth behind the cliff-hanger resolutions on The Simpsons (7th) and Lois & Clark (11th) and a rerun of NBC's Mad About You (40th). Meanwhile, previews of ABC's The Jeff Foxworthy Show and Maybe This Time (with Marie Osmond and Betty White) hit the top 20, but the shows settled into 49th and 47th, respectively, in their Saturday slots.
