The smirking cuteness that made Corey Haim a star in such flicks as ''The Lost Boys'' fails to render this lightweight drama the heady nostalgic potable it tries so hard to be. Haim plays a dweeby college freshman in the late '60s who learns about life, love, and male bonding from his sagelike Age of Aquarius roommate (Keith Coogan). Overdramatically told in a series of insignificant, syrupy flashbacks, Life 101's chapters don't end up signifying much -- Chinese fire drills, dorm pranks, and a first romance with a cute-as-a-button frosh (Ami Dolenz). By the end, you'll realize that while Haim's no longer a boy, he's still lost.
