BULLETPROOF HEART Anthony LaPaglia, Mimi Rogers (1995, Republic, R, priced for rental) He's a cold-eyed hitman who believes that life has no meaning. She's his latest mark, who seems to welcome death with wide-open arms. What should have been a brief encounter instead lasts all of one night, during which these two lost souls have tied-to-the-bedpost sex, eat Chinese food in the graveyard, and fall in love. LaPaglia and Rogers breathe edgy life into this stylized mood piece, which hooks you with its sardonic humor. Thankfully, video gives this unheralded gem the proverbial second chance. A-
