If you start it up, it may never stop -- until a new version comes along, that is. Despite Justice Department obstacles, development delays, and installation nightmares, Microsoft Windows 95 dominates the CD-ROM chart, debuting at No. 1. Its companion software, Microsoft Plus!, follows at No. 2. The first major Windows update in three years, 95 sold 1 million copies in its first week in stores -- helped, no doubt, by a reported $150 million global ad blitz. While sales have dropped considerably, 95 is sure to maintain a high profile, considering that more than 100 million PCs worldwide employ the Windows operating system. Meanwhile, the fantasy realm, spearheaded by the strong debut of Roberta Williams' interactive horror flick, Phantasmagoria, will just have to wait in the wings.
