Restaurant Guide

EW's GRADE
B-

Say you want to know whether the venison tenderloin with guava-sour cherry sauce at Hudson's on the Bend near Austin is stuffed with broiled or smoked lobster. Just point to central Texas on the map (or type in the city name), and this listing of more than 1,500 restaurants, wineries, and breweries from all 50 states will display the restaurant's menu (the lobster is smoked) and provide a phone number for reservations. Beyond the basics, however, Restaurant Guide offers little else (no ratings, for example). It's no replacement for Zagat directories, but the frequent traveler might rejoice at knowing about the smoked lobster as an alternative to room service. B-
