On Exit the Dragon, Urge Overkill completely drop any alternative-rock pretenses and become what they've always aspired to be — successors to Grand Funk, the Guess Who, and other wonderfully cheese-ball AM-radio classic-rock bands. With their effortless hooks and gear-grinder guitars, songs like ''Take Me'' and ''The Break'' sound both retro and modern (Lenny Kravitz, take note), and the ballad ''View of the Rain'' is their ''I'm Your Captain.''
