This album fairly glows with an unusual positive energy. Aside from an uncharacteristically tentative opening solo, Ferguson's zesty trumpet work is as impressive as ever. But it's the joie de vivre of the whole cohesive ensemble -- not just Ferguson's brilliant horn work -- that makes this his most satisfying album in ages.
