ROB ROY Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange (1995, MGM/UA, R, priced for rental) This tartan epic offers something for everyone: men's legs for the ladies, gore for the gents, and the tradition-bound sensibility responsible for such stereotypes in the first place. In fact, it so fulfills its mandate as an old-fashioned adventure that seeing it on the small screen barely mitigates its dashing character. There's Neeson as heroic Robert Roy MacGregor, dueling with evil Archibald Cunningham (Tim Roth). There's passion between Rob Roy and his spitfire wife (Lange). And there's an abundance of derring-do, righteous honor, and lush scenery. Consider it a bedtime story about long-ago legend, peppered with here-and-now sex. B+
