Season of the Witches

In the Works: 'The Crucible' -- Arthur Miller's play gets the Hollywood treatment with Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder set to star

Miller's Crossover: The witching hour approaches again as Arthur Miller's 1953 play, The Crucible, goes Hollywood. Now filming in Massachusetts, with Nicholas Hytner (The Madness of King George) directing, the Miller script about a 17th-century witchhunt stars Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder.

The Circus Flies Again: Erstwhile Monty Python trouper Terry Jones is directing fellow Brit-skit chums Eric Idle, John Cleese, and Michael Palin near London in a live-action take on the kids' book The Wind in the Willows.

R.E.M. Cycle: That's producer Michael Stipe to you. Frigid & Impotent, one of three films the rocker's making under the auspices of his New Line-affiliated production company, Single Cell Pictures, begins shooting in January. The quirky romance stars Drew Barrymore as one half of a serial killing couple who are.you guessed it, frigid and impotent.
