John Feinstein's bookshelf
I just finished The Last Debate, the new novel by Jim Lehrer. I've always been a fan of his from The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour. Next I plan to read something a lot heavier, Lincoln, by David Herbert Donald. It's supposed to be the definitive Lincoln bio. I was a history major, and he's always interested me. I also just read [ex-Washington Post executive editor] Ben Bradlee's book A Good Life, since I worked for him for 11 years. The book is pure Ben. It's written exactly the way he talks, only he's actually a little more profane....I usually get caught up on all my reading in the summer. I keep meaning to take one of those speed-reading courses to get even faster. My father took Evelyn Wood, and it worked.
