But it's a little lady by the name of Alice who topped 'em this time: The Chains gang's self-titled third full-length CD debuts on top of the pop chart, proving reports of grunge's death premature. Meanwhile, it seems to be a season of modest returns for superstar-hits collections; Madonna's ballads retrospective, Something to Remember, comes in at a good but not terribly memorable No. 6 and will likely soon join Janet Jackson's best-of in bubbling under Billboard's top 10.
