Partners, Jeff & Jeff Productions. What It Means: ''It's our version of 'two kids with a production company,''' says exec producer Jeff Greenstein, whose partner is Jeff Strauss. ''It's not like Bright/ Kauffman/Crane [producers of Friends and the pair's former employers], which we thought sounds like a law firm.'' Rejected Ideas: ''On Fox, you only have two seconds. At one point, instead of the guitar riff, we thought it should be me going 'Two seconds?!'''

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess, Renaissance Pictures. Action: A painting rips to the sound of chanting monks. What It Means: Exec producer Rob Tapert says, ''My partner, Sam Raimi, and I are from Detroit, which once upon a time named itself the Renaissance City. We wanted something that looked kind of classy in a Renaissance painting fashion, and then we wanted to rip it apart. That's the kind of guys we are.'' Rejected Ideas: ''We thought about volcanoes and other powerful images, but we decided to go with something that maintained a semblance of classiness.''

The Naked Truth, Christopher Thompson Productions. Action: A cigarette is stubbed out. What It Means: ''It has a nice bit of anger and frustration--just what I like to present,'' says exec producer Thompson, who labels himself a ''three-pack-a-day smoker and probably a two-gallon-a-day coffee drinker.'' Rejected Ideas:None. ''If somebody has an elaborate logo, they're taking time away from work they should be doing elsewhere.''
