MULTIMEDIA EXOTIC PETS

MULTIMEDIA EXOTIC PETS (Inroads Interactive, CD-ROM for PC and Mac, $29.95) If you’re the kind of person who sticks your head out the car window to moo at grazing cattle, you’ll appreciate this guide for potential owners of unusual pets. Covering 120 creatures from boas to earthworms to tarantulas (not to mention cows), Multimedia Exotic Pets provides a biography of each animal and an accompanying video to display its charms. The disc is no substitute for guidebooks about specific animals -- it points out, for example, that ferrets eat ''ferret food.'' In any case, you shouldn’t take it too seriously. To wit: In the Pocket Pets section, a listing for ''rocks'' touts their low-maintenance appeal. Of course, they don’t do many tricks. B
