Details Lead Performance: Shonen Knife

Shonen Knife Rock Animals (Virgin) This Japanese trio's disarmingly kitschy lyrics-with outfits to match-were nicely showcased on last year's Let's Knife, and that style hasn't changed on their second album for a major American label. The band still manages to maintain its Disney-meets-grunge whimsy without becoming overly cute. Forget about Pink Lady-if you haven't already- and take a shot of this. B+ -Daneet Steffens
