On her long-running public-radio series, Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, pianist McPartland has worked with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie and Bill Evans to the youngest jazz lions. Some of the show's classic broadcasts are now appearing on CD. This latest release, on which a beguiling, & 96-year-old Eubie Blake recalls both the dashing music and dismaying racial attitudes of turn-of-the-century America, is a priceless piece of history.
