Caveat emptor: Speed Racer: The Movie ain't no movie, it's a couple of episodes of the Japanese cartoon with some vintage commercials and an installment of the mystifying '50s American-made Saturday-morning staple Colonel Bleep thrown in. Well, at least the prints are better than the 700th- generation ones they show on MTV, if it makes any difference (actually, it does the simplistic animation looks, well, more crisply painted). If you liked the show in your youth, you might want this in your collection. But with new animation from Japan outstripping these artifacts almost daily, Speed Racer's value at this point is purely nostalgic.
