John Trudell Johnny Damas and Me (Rykodisc) Native American John Trudell is a charismatic film actor (Thunderheart), a former activist for the American Indian Movement, and one pissed-off rock & roller. Unlike your average MTV ranter, though, he has good reasons to be mad, and they boil up through these tracks like oil-well fires. The music is solid, somewhat uninspired blues rock, but the interwoven tribal chants and Trudell's angry, articulate imprecations keep Damas as fresh as an open wound. B+ -Ty Burr
