Manhattan Murder Mystery (1994)

EW's GRADE
C

Details Movie Rated: PG; Genres: Comedy, Mystery and Thriller; With: Alan Alda, Woody Allen, Anjelica Huston and Diane Keaton

Manhattan Murder Mystery's riff on ''Rear Window'' is slight and mild fun: Woody Allen's wife (Diane Keaton), thinking their neighbor has killed his wife, becomes a compulsive sleuth -- against her husband's constant griping. The scattered and panicked neurosis that used to be amusing, even charming, in Allen's films has turned sourly familiar. In fact, he has become such a killjoy character that he ruins his own movies with his whining. Three or four titters do not a comedy make, and rehashing the plot of an old movie does not enhance a mystery.
