Van Halen's original frontman created an art form out of being a bad boy. But on Your Filthy Little Mouth, he commits his most outrageous act ever: He starts to grow up. Perhaps he's finally acknowledging that as a rock singer, he has more in common with Bette Midler than with Robert Plant. But thanks to Nile Rodgers' skillful production, the result is Roth's most listenable, insightful, and hysterical effort in years. B+
