Those whose Beasties experience began with 1986's Licensed to Ill may be disappointed with this mini compilation. A scant 28 minutes long, it features the mostly hard-core, unlistenable tracks from the trio's first two EPs. Most interesting: the punk- for-hip-hop trade-off foreshadowed on the phone-prank curiosity ''Cooky Puss'' and the dub would-be manifesto ''Beastie Revolution.'' An historical document. But still for fans only.
