Daron Norwood

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Daron Norwood; Genre: Country

Newcomer Norwood has the choke-and-moan vocal approach of a thousand other Nashville hunks. What saves him is the material he's chosen for Daron Norwood — better-than-average songs about livin' and lovin', including the hit ''If It Wasn't for Her I Wouldn't Have You.'' But he loses points for recording one of country's worst, if inevitable, titles — ''Phantom of the Opry,'' a maudlin duet with Travis Tritt. B
