The wild man of Algerian boogie melds his rai howls with fat-bottomed American pop-funk to far better effect on N'ssi N'ssi than on 1991's Khaled. Don Was again twirls the knobs on some cuts, and Khaled's voice rockets over it all, improvising lyrics about party brawls and romantic madness. No wonder he's banned from playing in his homeland; he's North Africa's own Elvis the Pelvis. A-
