Wynton Marsalis may gather the attention, but his fellow New Orleans trumpeter-composer Terence Blanchard is the mainstream jazzman making the more significant records. Although bolstered by outstanding guests bassist Dave Holland and saxist Branford Marsalis Wandering Moon boasts a unified sound that speaks of Blanchard's ever-individualized vision, a distinctiveness that also juices up his creamy horn playing.
