After showing his spiritual passion with Earth, Wind and Fire in the '70s and his religious fervor with gospel in the '80s, the king of falsettos offers up a dozen secular love songs that could be dubbed ''Prince Lite'' on his self-titled album, Philip Bailey. Among the too-smooth ballads and overly synthesized Jodeci-style doo-wop, just the funky ''Live It Up'' and danceable ''I Won't Open My Arms'' (sung with P.M. Dawn's Prince Be) jump out. If only the rest were as quirky and uncliched. C+
