On her first album, The Barbra Streisand Album, she was more anxious to show the world what she could do with her voice than what she could do for a song. Still, there's an over-the-top passion to her show tunes and standards that wins us in the end. Pick hit: her ironically yearning take on ''Happy Days Are Here Again.'' B+
