Groove Collective (1994)

EW's GRADE
A

Details Lead Performance: Various Artists; Genres: Blues, Hip-Hop/Rap, Jazz, Pop, Reggae/Ska, World

The Groove Collective consists of 10 multi-ethnic musicians, but it's no Us3 rip-off. On this collage of blues, fusion jazz, hip-hop pop, and world music, there are no borrowed samples and few lyrics on the self-titled album, Groove Collective. And what better way to enjoy live, hard-driving, dancehall-tested grooves-complete with mistakes and some wicked xylophone and sax improvisations?
