As the title character, John Ryan is done up like an extra from Cruising, while human hero Joe Lara resembles a Eurodisco singer. But don't get the wrong idea there's nothing campy about this sci-fi thriller. Which is too bad, because American Cyborg: Steel Warrior could have used something to liven up its duller-than-dirt run away/fight/run away/fight scenario. Who sets this in motion? Mary, the last fertile woman in a postnuclear nightmare world, trying to find a new life for her baby, whom she carries around in what looks like a drive-through bank deposit tube. D-
