Avenging his father's murder, a hit man (James Remar) steals a fortune from the mob, then takes a scenic escape route through portentous Death Valley. But what's he got to lose? He's dying of a brain tumor anyway. Riding in a stretch limo with his driver (Michael Wright) and a pretty hitchhiker (Emily Longstreth), this tortured antihero heads toward Las Vegas, looking for redemption along the way. All saturated colors and creative camera angles, Confessions of a Hitman is so stylized it's sometimes distracting. But Remar's performance is primal. Veering from sudden violence to brooding silence, he keeps us caught up in this spiritual journey, even when it wanders off track.
