Gregory Isaacs' clear, reedy voice is the unifying element on this collection of collaborations with Ninja Man, Nardo Ranks, and other dancehall greats. With the charismatic lovers-rock style that made him famous in the '70s and the computer rhythms he helped popularize in the next decade, Isaacs draws each of the reggae rappers into his musical world, rather than vice versa on Dancehall Don. The refreshing result is far more melodic and harmonious than the bulk of contemporary dancehall.
