Steven Spielberg's Honorary Doctorate

The ''Schindler's List'' director will get a degree from the University of Southern California

STEVEN'S LIST: Thanks to Schindler's List, Steven Spielberg's awards tally stands at more than a dozen since January-and they just keep coming. On May 6, Spielberg, along with Ella Fitzgerald and George Lucas, will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Southern California. The director, who dropped out of California State University-Long Beach in the late '60s, wasn't exactly an honors student. "I'm told he put all his efforts into film classes and didn't care about anything else," says CSU spokesman Shayne Schroeder. "I guess he made the right decision."
