For ''Pete'' Sake: Jim Carrey, mambo king? Columbia Records, which is producing the soundtrack for Carrey's The Mask, thinks so. The company has hired C&C Music Factory producers Robert Clivilles and David Cole to remix Carrey's on- screen send-up of Desi Arnaz's "Cuban Pete" for release this July. "C&C has taken the song to the next level with a sort of Brazilian mix," says Columbia vice president Maureen Crowe, who insists the singing is all Carrey's. "In this style, he's got talent." How are Desi's kids taking the news? Lucie Arnaz hadn't heard of Carrey or the plans to rerelease her dad's Tropicana staple, but she wishes the actor all the best. "It's a wonderfully charming song of romance and humor. It's a brave choice."
