As cheesy projects go, The Getaway qualifies as gorgonzola: a vanity vehicle for a star couple masquerading as a needless remake of the 1972 Steve McQueen-Ali MacGraw action potboiler. As the ex-con who takes off with a bag of loot through the Southwest, Alec Baldwin can dream on about being an action hero like McQueen. And there are moments when Kim Basinger, as his wife, makes MacGraw look like Sarah Bernhardt. Though there's plenty of violence and some celebrity skin, this thing moves at a tortoise's pace through a drab and dry desert. D
