Tough-talking and tongue-in-cheek, with B-movie dialogue right out of the 1950s, Romeo Is Bleeding hints at more than it delivers, but it still delivers more than most. Oldman is the cop gone rotten, Annabella Sciorra his understanding and sexy wife, and Juliette Lewis the stereotypical dumb-blond mistress. But it's the amazonic Lena Olin as the heartless mobster Mona Demarkov who can make a grown man weep, among them Oldman.
