A time-travel mishap replaces a boring, sterile future with a dirty, high-tech Beirut, patrolled by murderous robots nobody can seem to turn off — just like any dozen futuristic thrillers. Relativity adepts could have fun pointing out the A.P.E.X. plot's multiple fallacies, but I'm sure they have better things to do. As for the animation effects, I've seen more convincing work in ads for bathroom tile cleaners. And as for actor Marcus Aurelius, unlike his namesake, he does not rule. D
